Eleven years ago, the URSSAF institution (French Social Security Contributions and Benefits Agency) created an employment vouchers service (the so-called Chèque Emploi Service or CES), to facilitate the payment and filing of operations for employees in private households. The widespread adoption of CES resulted in an increasingly heavy manual workflow to manage these administrative tasks. The URSSAF therefore needed to simplify and automate its filing processes.

Solution

The division responsible for the CES management deployed BEA WebLogic Server 8.1 and BEA Tuxedo to reduce the volume of phone calls and the associated processing charges. With this new system, additional services could be offered (immediate calculation of payroll taxes) while ensuring a high degree of scalability.

Results

The entry errors and workload associated with printed filings were significantly reduced. The processing time was reduced from seven to two days and the increased reliability of the system enhanced user loyalty. In the meantime, over 200,000 subscribers have been using the Web site.
