Within this expansive regional Spanish government there were wide differences in the criteria for using new technologies as a means of bringing the government closer to the citizens. There was no integration between the different technologies and simple tasks were taking a long time, due to manual processes and duplication within various systems.
Deployed BEA WebLogic Integration 8.1 and BEA WebLogic Server 8.1 to create a single point of access through which the general public could find the information they need, using simple, transparent and structured procedures. The 'w@ndA' project has become the focus of the administration's efforts to get closer to the public through the application of electronic technology.
w@ndA is a long-term project scheduled for completion in 2008. It will provide the general public with access to a comprehensive catalogue of procedures, presented in a simplified, ordered and user-friendly way. This Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) has a total budget of € 2.5 million, and ROI will be measured on the basis of the citizens' satisfaction with the project.
