The AP-HM (Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Marseille) is the patient care system for the Marseille Hospitals in France. AP-HM has initiated a large-scale modernization and restructuring program aimed at improving patient care whilst adapting its structures to meet the demands of modern medicine. Its existing information system was unable to make a significant contribution to this transformation project.
Electing to begin the modernization of its Information System (IS) with integration and mapping projects, AP-HM appointed Capgemini and BEA to develop an interoperability base built on BEA WebLogic Integration. Alongside the development of patient records, this application bus helps AP-HM to create optimized processes based on different professional applications.
The IT upgrade program has resulted in the development of a flexible and upgradeable architecture focused on the patient, and has facilitated exchanges and gradually opened up the Information System to the outside. Administrative and care staff at the AP-HM will also benefit from a reliable, responsive, and highly available IS which will ultimately result in improved efficiency.
