2nd largest publicly quoted Real Estate Company by market capitalisation, largest by portfolio under management. A FTSE 100 company, British Land wanted to improve operational efficiency and information sharing.

Solution

The British Land Portal enables individual content in the form of thirty different ALUI personalised pages, which are assembled from over 100 portlets, providing a composite view of all portal applications in which each user is active. With the portal's personalisation and security settings, employees can access only the information relevant to them with a single logon — without compromising the security or confidentiality of other information in the portal and underlying applications. Depending on each individual's role within British Land, workflow applications, e-mail and information stored in the company's Oracle-based property and accounting database can all be accessed through the portal.

Results

The portal enabled delivery of improved services, increased accuracy and improved business performance. Seen as an aggregator it has increased collaboration and teamwork, and Expenditure Authority Request systems have reduced the 8 stage approval time down from several weeks to a few days in some cases.
