DrKW needed a solution that connected directly with the systems used by the traders to manage their risks, could combine data across many different IT systems and rapidly deliver results of calculations to users around the globe. By solving this problem for the front office, the organisation could realise one of its primary goals: one system for the back-office to control and report the bank's financial position at close of business.
Solution
The exacting business requirements were met with Yolus Financials™, a high performance platform with a real-time, event driven and component-based J2EE architecture. Yolus Financials connects directly to the IT systems in place. BEA WebLogic Server provided the application server to host the solution, giving it a base infrastructure that simplifies its information flow and decreasing the cost of managing its solution.
Results
The Yolus application on the BEA WebLogic Server connects with trading systems in Frankfurt, London, New York and Tokyo, marshalling 100,000 holdings, which constitute about 700 MB of data, at a rate of 10,000 holdings per minute. It runs for 23 hours and 45 minutes in every day, with a brief fifteen-minute shutdown between New York closing and Tokyo opening. Even with the scale and reach of the application, it is noted to be one of the most reliable systems in the bank. This solution has helped DrKW align activities across the whole organisation. The bank has streamlined its IT and business processes, reduced time spent consolidating and manipulating data, reduced reconciliation issues across the back-office and improved the timeliness, accuracy and relevance of end-of- day reports.
