On this subject, in the next section youll find strategic business insights from a few CEOs whom I highly respect, leaders of companies with which BEA has built strong, enduring relationships. I hope youll benefit as much from their perspectives as I have.
In fact, their perspectives have helped me greatly in this past, difficult year.
The year began better than it ended. In the first half of fiscal 02 we continued our string of record quarters with our twenty-second and twenty-third, becoming the fastest software company in history to reach $1 billion in trailing 12-months revenue.
But then came September 11th.
Three weeks later I took over as BEAs chief executive officer from my good friend, partner, and co-founder, Bill Coleman.
Six weeks after that I announced our first-ever drop in sequential quarterly revenues.
In Q4 we got back on track though not yet up to our high-water mark of Q2 with a sequential increase in revenues.
