Re: EclipseCon 2006, Ajax and AquaLogic Data Services

As BEA is an Eclipse board and strategic foundation member, and BEA Workshop StudioTM (and the free JSP Editor) is now based on the Eclipse Platform, we are now part of a very large community of Eclipse users and developers. Some of our Eclipse activities are shown on our open source page and Eclipse Technology Center.

It shouldn't come as a surprise then to hear that BEA is also a gold sponsor of EclipseCon 2006 and will be making a number of presentations! Besides the BEA Workshop for JSF 3.0 tutorial, we will be giving talks on extending the Web Tools Platform, managing open source contributions and contributing to Eclipse. Scroll down for the full list and find additional information on the Dev2Dev EclipseCon conference page page, which we'll be updating throughout the next two months.

Regards,

New Blogs

I'd like to welcome Lionel Martinez to our blogging community. Lionel's first post is about a Tuxedo 9.0 XML to FML32 demo.

A Selection from the Blogs

Gary McBride says that Open Standards Innovation and Adoption are Part of BEA WebLogic's DNA, and provides a great graphic showing where BEA has innovated, creating standards, and where it has adopted standards.

Eric Stahl asks Is the Software Industry Mature or Ripe for Disruption?. In a comprehensive entry, Eric gives some of his predictions for the enterprise future, stating that "the next few years will see the rise and fall of technology empires and will be the most exciting years the industry has ever seen."

If you're interested in BEA Workshop or Beehive, read Eddie O'Neil's Apache Beehive -- Evolution of the Workshop Runtime. This covers "some of the differences between the 8.1 Workshop runtime and the Apache Beehive project" and is essential reading for anyone using NetUI or Controls.

What with the WebLogic Communications Platform and all, we'll be growing our telecom and SIP communities soon. Francois Deza's entry, JSR 289: SIP Servlet v1.1 Approved notes that BEA is leading the new JSR 289 SIP Servlet specification. Exciting stuff. We'll be publishing a few articles on this topic soon.

Also of note, Kavindra Patel provides the January BEA User Group Update. Finally, Henrik Ståhl points to some New SPECjbb2000 and SPECjbb2005 Records with JRockit.
